CERT agenda announced

The agenda for December's CERT class has been announced. The class has reached capacity, but we are still taking names for the wait list. Please call the New Castle County Office of Emergency Management at 302-395-2700 if you would like to sign up!

Day 1 – December 10*

8:15 am – 8:40 am Registration / continental breakfast

8:40 am – 9:20 am CERT Introduction

9:30 am – 10:20 am Disaster preparedness / Animals in disaster

10:30 am – 11:20 am Terrorism

11:20 am – 11:30 am CERT bags issued

11:30 am – 12:00 pm Fire suppression classroom

12:00 pm – 12:30 pm Lunch / review and questions

12:30 pm – 1:20 pm Fire suppression practical

1:40 pm – 2: 30 pm Disaster psychology

2:40 pm – 3:30 pm Shelter in place


Day 2 – December 11*

08:30 am – 12:00 pm Medical assessment and operations, CPR/AED
12:00 pm – 12:30 pm Lunch/review questions

12:30 pm – 1:30 pm Finish CPR/AED

1:40 pm – 3:20 pm Search and rescue cribbing, practical exercises

3:20 pm – 3:30 pm Wrap up certificates issued

CERT Class announced!




New Castle County Citizen Corps is proud to announce that we will be sponsoring a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course in December 2009. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Here are the details:

Who: New Castle County Residents and those who work in New Castle County

What: CERT- FREE Community Emergency Response Team training. A 2 day class. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. FREE CERT bag provided to participants.We will cover: terrorism awareness, light search and rescue,fire suppression, First Aid, CPR, AED, and other topics.

Where: Cpl. Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building 3601 N. DuPont Hwy New Castle DE 19720

When: 2 Day class – Thursday and Friday December 10th and 11th 2009, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm both days.(Recertifications need only come to day 2 - December 11)
